Statement on the encampment at Microsoft's Redmond Campus, 19th August 2025

August 20th 2025 | Steven Phillips, Executive Director & Founder

We call on Microsoft to ensure that Jewish and Israeli employees are free from harassment, intimidation, and threats in their workplaces.

We are deeply concerned by the August 19th protest and encampment on Microsoft’s Redmond Campus, branded as a “Worker Intifada.” This marks a dangerous escalation and threatens the safety and security of Jewish and Israeli employees.

The use of the term ‘Intifada’ is not symbolic—it’s tied to a history of violence that took the lives of over 1,000 Israelis and injured thousands more. Using it in this context is deeply harmful and threatening.

While we recently celebrated the equal recognition of the Jews at Microsoft (JAMS) employee network, we know that the mere existence of an employee resource group is not sufficient to protect Jewish and Israeli employees.

We call on Microsoft and all employers to enforce existing worker safety, violence prevention, and anti-harassment policies, and ensure that Jewish and Israeli employees are safe in the workplace.
